Envirosafe Tanks: Streamlining Reporting with Power BI

At Envirosafe Tanks, we manufacture all-in-one above-ground fuel storage tanks and dispensing systems. Whether for ground fleets, backup generators, or aviation, our tanks are built to last.

But like most mature businesses, managing day-to-day operations meant relying on a series of reports and processes that became cumbersome over time. We needed a better way to track and manage everything—from lead generation and quotes to work orders, production, and profitability.

That’s where our project with the Genius ERP team came in.

The Challenge

We wanted to streamline our reporting process for everyone, from mid-level managers to owner, to make overseeing our entire business cycle easier. Our goal was to build an ‘all-in-one’ Power BI report that would pull data from Genius ERP and other sources to provide key insights across all stages of our operations.

What we needed:

• Plan what needs to be produced, when, and with which resources, ensuring materials, machines and staff are available
• Show quotes by salesperson, type, and date, with both summary and detailed views
• Track quote profitability, including margin data and budget hours to complete each project
• Provide a graphical breakdown of orders booked by salespeople, including the type, customer, and monthly summaries
• Real-time backlog tracking by type, size, status, and salesperson
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) with actual vs. budgeted hours by work center
• Compare quoted vs. actual margins on a job-by-job basis
• Track expenses and display actual vs. budget numbers for controllable expenses

The Solution

Working closely with the Genius ERP team, we set out to develop a streamlined Power BI solution that met all these needs. What stood out the most was the level of collaboration and interaction with the Genius team throughout the development process. Their deep understanding of the Genius ERP data tables and how to integrate them into Power BI helped us cut the development time easily in half.

The Results

By working with Genius ERP, we were able to improve our reporting. This project was about more than just implementing a new software solution—it was about making it easier for us to manage our business, and the Genius team helped us do that.
